Unity is packed full of information and helpful tutorials that have really helped me so far.
But the only problem is that it is only on their website. I find it much easier to learn through reading from a physical book rather than a screen. I get its a lot of info, but why isn’t there official Unity manuals and text books?
Because Unity isn’t hard. C# is hard. And that’s nothing to do with Unity. There are hundreds of books.
Once you learn C#, the actual unity process to learn is very minor and easily covered in the learn videos → Learn
If you mean books for learning how to use the editor and so forth well I think that would be quite useful to people although might get a bit out of date within 1-2 years given how fast this industry moves
Is there a particular area you’re stuck on? maybe we (the forum) can help you?
Thanks, Hippocoder. I’m not really stuck on anything, it’s more like I get confused as to what I should focus on learning as a beginner. Originally I was learning first how to use the Unity engine and get around it, but now I think I should be spending more time studying C#.
I actually already have the Learning C# for Unity for Beginners book already and have started reading that. Will probably start taking notes too.
You are right on that it’s not Unity that’s hard, but rather the scripting and terminology.
