Why has my scripting stopped working?

I’m very new to game development/design so forgive me if this sounds confusing. So I am working on a small game for the college class I am taking and now all of the scripting has stopped working. Before this I was strictly using Visual Scripting, but I couldn’t find a way to create a mechanic I wanted using it so I switched to C# scripting. When I made the script, it didn’t work, but that was fine since I was new and not experienced yet. But the errors I was getting were not making sense at all, I was getting Error cs1513 but wasn’t missing any brackets and the lines it was telling me to fix weren’t making sense either, as if I were to put brackets where it was telling me to it would be right in the middle of a line of code. So, after getting nowhere with it I decided to delete the C# script and try it again with Visual Scripting because I am more comfortable with it but now nothing works at all. No matter what I put in or how I put it in it will not work, I even copy and pasted script from something else that I knew was functional and that still did not work. I’ve followed countless tutorials and the errors I am getting still are not making any sense to me, for example I am getting an error saying that my player has no Rigidbody2D component when it does. I’m at a loss at what to do, is there any way to fix this?

First recognize that C# (and I assume Visual Scripting) work. If it didn’t work we who use it every day would have noticed. So something is definitely up with your installation. A bad install, missing library, who knows but something.

As for the error message, the editor is doing its best. If there are multiple problems it isn’t necessarily going to explain the problem just indicate where it gave up trying. The errors are often a guide not an absolute indicator.

Personally I would recommend using C# (but that’s me). Solve the issue by creating a new test project with almost nothing in it. Add what amounts to a “hello world” class and add it to a game object. Include some console logging and make certain the very basics are working.

As for the RigidBody component… uh it depends upon who is telling you that and under what circumstances. Again everything works minus a few mostly known bugs and limitations.
