Why is a Unity Demo not working on Macintosh?

One of the main selling points for Unity3D is that it’s supposed to create operational applications on both Windows and Macintosh. However, Mothead; one of the featured demos is crashing when I try to run it. Why is this?

I’m running:

OS: Mac OS 10.6 (Intel, 2 32-bit processors),
L2 Cache: 2MB,
Memory: 1GB,
Bus Speed: 667 MHz

Are you running it in the editor? As a download? The machine might to too low a spec for it to be honest...

What GPU does your mac have? Mothhead is a pretty high-end demo and needs a GPU with at least 1GB of memory. Since you say your machine has 1GB of system memory my guess is that you have a relatively old Mac so probably has an embedded GPU. As per the system requirements you will need a dedicated graphics card.

Relatively old Mac? Bingo. RadeonX1600. Ah. Well. Issue found. But since the price of macs is on the high end of the spectrum, the folks who own them do tend to drag their feet in buying a new computer.

Thank you.
