Why is my animator window blank?

Hi,

So I’ve just recently started using Unity so I only know some of the basics. I was watching a tutorial on how to make third person characters and I realized that the animator tab was blank and I was unable to add animations to my character. I would appreciate some advice on this problem.

That’s because you have no Animator controller on the selected object (look in the Inspector at the Animator component - the very first line says “None”)
