I have a textmeshpro objectt attached to a 9-sliced speech bubble sprite. I have attached Content Size Fitter and Vertical Layout Group components so that the speech bubble changes size according to the length of the text. This worked fine it in its original state, where the speech bubble was at the bottom left and text expanded to the right. However I now want to make a version where the speech bubble is at the bottom right and text expands to the left. This is not working - as you can see, the text is expanding faster than the speech bubble and not stretching it enough.

Just restart your conversion from expand-right to expand-left… It does work. You probably just clicked or aligned something incorrectly. There may be more than one thing to change, plus with TMPro there may be extra settings in there.
Attached are a few different “absolutely barest minimum expanding speech bubble” things I keep handy for whenever I want this fiddly little feature in one of my games. Enjoy!
