I’m a bit confuse by Unity’s decision to put an unchangeable splash screen feature their name in Unity personal.
According to Unity themselves, there a lot of developer using Unity and made a lot of game. And what obvious is most of them are just amateur/hobbyist, which mean most of them will be making a lot of low quality produces, using Unity personal. Meanwhile, more serious developer will buy Unity Pro, and of course they will make use of one of the only two feature that the Personal Editor lack of : the splash screen.
And the result is : user - both normal player and potential developer - will associate Unity game engine with low quality games, and you know what that mean.
Those are my subjectively thought about this, would you share your perspective?
Simply put the purpose of the splash screen is to attract more amateur developers. Professionals are not impacted by it whatsoever, except perhaps in the sense of their ability to afford Unity Pro, as they will simply evaluate and choose to use it based on the merits of the engine.
Also your judgement of what is a low or bad quality could be very impressive for a beginner. Plus having a watermark is about the most minimal requirement for a free, fully feature packed game engine no?
I’m not talking about who already use Unity, the splash screen is not for them. Its about who never use Unity to see what its capable of, and that could lead to misunderstood for those people that Unity is a low quality, unprofessional engine
