Widget Monkey Games has now gone live!

Greeting to my fellow Unity users, forum friends and a great team of developers at OTEE who gave us all Unity. I am thrilled to announce that tonight (after some CSS headaches), that I have launched a new website called Widget Monkey Games.

http://www.widgetmonkeygames.com

I have decided to set up Widget Monkey Games as: 1) a place to develop and sell my own games made with Unity (the first two being The Illusionist and SPQR); and, 2) as a place to distribute and sell games made by the fantastic indie game developers using Unity who are part of the great community we have here.

I am thrilled to announce that Sector3 have agreed to be my first publishing partners and I’m looking forward to the updated version of Turret Wars that they will be releasing soon.

I hope to have a few more partner publishers on the site in the coming weeks and would encourage anyone developing games with Unity to drop me a line via the new site or here via PM.

I have a Partners page and have listed and linked to a number of you on it … if anyone wants to be added, please let me know. I also have a Showcase page that shows off some of the great stuff being produced using Unity by some of the best folks here. Again, please drop me a line if you’d like me to add (or remove?) you from/to either page.

In the end, I guess, WMG is my really way of saying thanks and my personal tribute to the fantastic thing that the guys at OTEE have created in Unity. It’s made me and a number of other folks realise that our dreams of making games can be a reality and the support from David, Joe, Nicholas, Lars, Tom, Keli, Aras and the others has always been top notch and superb.

And this community rocks. Big time. I am simply blown away by the work that’s getting created by the users here and know it’s getting even better all the time (getting seriously weepy here). There’s so many great people here on the forums from all over the world it’s impossible to list the folks that continually help me, encourage me, teach me, make me think, and simply make my days better by being here. Thanks to you every one of you.

Drop by http://www.widgetmonkeygames.com if you get a moment and if you want your game on the site, let me know!

Thanks everyone. David.

very nice site - clean stylish.

man i have to say i got really excited about SPQR until i read it was a card game (sorry just not my thing ; )

anyway, congrats it looks great ; )

Thanks drJones for the kind words. SPQR is a long way off … after I get The Illusionist done with the help of Tom Phillips and musician Mike Beckett. Who knows what’ll actually come out in the end.

David

Congrats on getting the site live!

Looks great, David! Love it!

That looks feels great!

Now some minor nags…

The stuff you have made so far sounds so trivial - I mean: A simulated wooden monkey? Or a giraffe? Pushing banana crates around?

But you have a talent for giving everything up to and including the website such a professional finish, that I end up liking it anyway.

Very impressed.

Thanks and link fixed up.

Thank you for the kind words, Carsten. Wait until you see The Illusionist, you’ll love that too.

Thanks Ulognep! When can I feature one of your games on the site?

Thanks to you and your team, Seon, at Sector3 for helping out and jumping aboard so enthusiastically.

Finally, thanks to everyone who has emailed or privately PMed me with their support and comments.

Very nice site! I love the look of it.

I’ll be dropping you an email soon

Congrats on getting the site up  Looks good.

Take care.

Received and will reply shortly ( I have some immediate fixes tonight to do on the site and a Flash peice to replace the home page banner).

Plus I had another developer jump on board today.

nice site. your style always impresses!

Great work as always DaveyJJ! I like your clean web designs and I give thanks to you every day as I work in CSS for helping me learn it!

I just have one suggestion. On each games individual page (Turret Wars page for example) I don’t like the fact that the screen shots are on the actual page below the content. I think it would be cool if they were thumbnails below the “Buy Today!” div and used the lightbox 2 script to show a full sized screenshot over the page. That way the full sized screenshot could be larger than it is now, and the page would feel a little cleaner.

Also on the main games page, where you have a screenshot and description below, it would be good to have the screen shot also be a link to that games page.

But as always thats just one crazy guys opinion  so go with whatever you prefer! And as I said before great work! Jeff

Second one fixed … I had intended that the Our Games screenshots link to the game page but it got lost in the lists somewhere. Thanks. Yeah, screen shots I’m working on too. I may also use slideshowpro on the home page for the banners, but don’t want to exclude the 5% that lack Flash. Working on it though.

Thanks for the help as always!

Nice work! Woot!

Congrats David, looking great!
