Will lenovo flex 15 series 2 in 1 run unity well?

So I am about to buy a new laptop and I was wondering if a Lenovo flex would work good with unity and blender. Here are the specs:

  • 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX230 Graphics
  • Backlit Keyboard with Fingerprint Reader
  • 802.11 Wireless-AC + Bluetooth® 4.1
  • Audio by Dolby
  • 1x HDMI
  • 8gb RAM
  • Intel i7 8th gen
  • no optical drive

Thanks for any help!

Yes. Of course, you can always bring any system to it’s knees with poorly optimized scenes.
But that system above has about 2x the GPU power as my iris 540, and I use mine just fine.

Ok I’m just upgrading from a nine year old MacBookpro that had a kernel panic about every 30 minutes. Would it work for gaming(I don’t need the best graphics)

Depends on the game. The MX230 is going to be better than integrated graphics, but likely is worse than any add on video card currently manufactured for a desktop. 8th gen i7 covers a wide variety of CPU’s, so doesn’t say much without a specific model. 8GB RAM is going to be fine for pretty much any game, but is on the low side today for a new computer. I wouldn’t buy a new PC today with less than 16GB.

would it work just as well if I upgraded the ram myself because it’s cheaper?

Sure - if it’s possible on that model. Lenovo is usually pretty good about providing access to upgrade RAM. But in most laptops it’s not possible. Check out ifixit or similar sites to see if it’s possible to user-upgrade the RAM in the model you are looking at.
