I have $80 and currently have a Droid mini 4.3’‘. Is it worth buying a pair of goggles? The headset I’m looking at says it’ll work with 4-6’’ screens but I wanna make sure I’m gonna get the immersion still
I would get a cheap Cardboard viewer (they can be had for ~$5) before spending larger amounts on a higher quality viewer. Then you’ll have an idea of how it will work.
Anyone have experience using this size phone for vr?
Or would a galaxy s3 or Droid Maxx be any better
You also have to consider the depth of the phone. I have a SAMSUNG Galaxy S2 that’s 0.4 inches in depth, and it barely fits in the Google Cardboard. The actual screen size is 4.27 inches and it while it barely works, the quality is terrible. I also have a SAMSUNG Galaxy S3, and it seems to fit fine over depth and screen size, but it’s not the prime experience. I usually test with a SAMSUNG Galaxy S5 and it works great.
If you are getting phone powered VR, I recommend getting a simple Google Cardboard from the Google Store (or purchasing a Gear VR if you have one of the latest SAMSUNG devices [I don’t]).
