WIll we ever see simple linear fog in HDRP?

I don’t need super accurate fog, I just want fog to cover up the fact that my map has edges.
I can’t get just basic linear fog that is real clear where the player is looking and then sharply guts off at a certain threshold. Instead, it looks like… fog, and I don’t want actual fog, I need game fog.

I’m half tempted to just throw a bunch of semi transparent planes in front of my camera.

I’ve created myself a few different old school fogs for this purpose as post effects. Vertical fog, linear fog, exponential fog, multi-colored fog and so on… I don’t want to necessarily fiddle with that fog, how realistic it might be etc.
