Win7 (64-bit) Unity not Starting up

Howdy,

Did a quick search of these forums and UnityAnswers, and couldn’t find a solution for my problem.

I’ve been running Unity without hassle for a few months, but did not touch it for approximately two months (i.e. late March), and after updating my Unity to the latest versions, I’m unable to run it.

When I run Unity, it appears in Task Manager for the briefest of moments and then mysteriously vanishes before actually booting up.

Tried an uninstall and reinstall of different versions. Tried installing it in different locations. Tried turning off Firewalls and Anti-viruses.

Any other suggestions, let me know what else I can try to get it to work? Thanks in advance.

Are you running it as admin using the ‘run as’ option?

Also, can you please attach the log file?

  1. Tried the “run as Administrator” option, still refused to open.

  2. Log file reads the following:

100409 13:20:22 ------------------------------------------------------------
100409 13:20:22 Manager starting, version 2.6.1f3_31223

And that’s about it. That was the most recent log file I can find, and seems somewhat dated. Found it at:

C:\Users(currentuser)\AppData\Local\Temp\UnityWebPlayer\log

Let me know if that may be the incorrect version.

You have problem with editor?
then it is
c:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Unity\Editor\Editor.log

Ok then this is it I assume. In which case the file has not been modified since March (tried to open it a lot between March and now…)

Is there something I should be looking for in here perhaps? Attached anyway for others to look, but at a glance I can’t see anything unusual (though not sure if I’m looking for something particular)

EDIT: Uhh, tried attaching it 3 times now yet can’t see it attaching to this post… (OH, should I be converting it to an “accepted” extension?)

this is why i love my xp, and i will love my mac even more when i get it. To be honest ive never had any trouble out of Unity installed it, and boom started working. Whats ur specs, are you running other things, and in truth without that log file no one can help. My advice downgrade to xp, or buy a mac.

I’m having the exact same problem, also on 64bit Windows 7, also never had any problem until relatively recently. I’ve tried everything mentioned here already.
Did this get resolved?
I’ve attached a copy (*.log appears to not be an accetable attachment) of my most recent Editor log file incase that helps.

337418–11834–$editor_614.txt (2.05 KB)

Judging from the log the problem might be in the project that it is trying to open and crashes. Can you please or run with alt, or temporary move the project folder to other place?

Thansk for the advice Alexey, however I’ve just tried both those things, and still no joy sorry.

Forgot that I had also recently played about with the DEP settings, simply added Unity to the exception list, and bingo, it now works like a charm

Sorry to have wasted anyones time.
