Title of this thread is really my question.
A lot of people say its bad in general but there are some that say its awesome. So really its opinion based for that type of usage, but
I need to know how is it with game development work flow?
Please post honest opinions and not opinions from being gullible to the opinions of the internet.
Basically don’t post if you never tried or own windows 8 and used it in game development
Appreciate the feedback!
It’s fine, but ultimately a little silly. Windows 8 has a tiny sliver of the marketshare for devices and for desktops you’re better off just publishing across multiple windows platforms without a reliance on the built-in stores.
I do 90% of all my Unity development on Windows 8. First thing I did was go to ninite.com and install the classic start menu and solely use the “classic” desktop mode.
Once you have the classic start menu back, it’s basically Windows 7/Vista/XP. There are no work flow changes unless you have some process that is super-bound to the specific operating system and relying on some arcane setting. Everybody that complains about Windows 8 really just needs to take a deep breath, install the classic menu, and take a chill pill.
MarigoldFleur brings up a point about exporting to Windows Marketplace, and it’s valid… yet it also means there is an untapped market that few developers are on yet (in comparison to the bloated iTunes and GooglePlay).
