Windows HPC Compatable?

Yea, is Unity 3.x compatable with Windows HPC? We are looking at some small Crays…

Depends on what you define as compatible and for what purpose. (unsure on the technical capability to run it at all though and I’m pretty sure nobody tested it as its not that commonly used for game hosting nor offered to end users by any hoster at least I’ve never seen any offered)

I know that the regular Windows 2k8 Server runs unity headless clients without problems for example

Compatible as in can run the Editor. These Crays are intended to be the computers we use that will do anything we need, whenever we need it, right when we need it, no questions asked. We would use it the same way you use your normal computer, just with the benefit of it never, or at least very rarely, slowing down.

Can be wrong but to my knowledge HPC is for clusters and costs accordingly, you wouldn’t use it on a single machine.
Unity wouldn’t gain anything from clustering, as such you could just as well use Win 2k8 or Win2k9 server and save several ten thousand USD.

don’t get the slowing down aspect, cause a cluster won’t save you from the fact that a single core is limited, that 4GB max ram usage is limited etc

So would the CX1 be capable of running something more mainstream like Windows 7?
