In collaboration with Microsoft, we have recently discovered an issue with all Unity 4.2.x Windows Phone 8 games running on Windows Phone 8.1. It causes all apps made with Unity 4.2 crash on the splashscreen due to stricter graphics driver requirements. This problem is fixed in Unity 4.3.
What does it mean to you?
Do you have an application in the Windows Phone Store that is made with Unity 4.2.x? If so, to avoid hitting this compatibility issue and to ensure that all users can continue to play your game(s) when Windows Phone 8.1 is released, you should rebuild the project using Unity 4.3 as soon as possible.
Is there still an issue? While the app doesn’t crash, rebuilding on 4.3 still seems to result in diminished performance. The frame rate decline I’m seeing feels easily attributable to stricter memory management of the graphics systems.
the issue is still present and will probably never get fixed.
How much of a performance difference are you seeing? Is it during loading levels, or general frame rate? Did you try Unity 4.5, in which we specifically made a lot of performance improvements?
hi, right now i have a game and it won’t start (after unity icon the game close) in wp8 lumia 520 devices but when i tried in lumia 820 wp8.1 devices it works good… maybe there is some bug in there?
