I’m curious about Windows store. If you publish a game do you need to support all the possible devices which can run Windows Phone 8? I took a look at different Lumia models and it seems that that many of the cheaper devices only have 512 mb of RAM, which could cause some headaches. Which device do you use for development?
When publishing your game, you can specify system requirements (including RAM).
As for deciding how much RAM you will require for your game I’d suggest trying to run it on a weaker device and checking the performance.
Remember, there are a lot of windows phones with 512 MB ram, so making 1 GB RAM requirement will exclude a large portion of potential users :).
That is good to know, thanks! I suppose 512 MB should be enough for mobile. Lumia 520 seems to be cheap as dirt, although I would prefer 820 or 920 for personal use. Then there are the midline models. Nokia has always had such a varied product line.
