Hi,
my machine is running Windows Server 2008 and I wanted to give Unity 2.5 a try. But if I start Unity I the program crashes with the following information (in german):

Is there any chance to get it run?
René
did you install all desktop related addons required to get the 2008 server install up to “Vista level”?
What addons do you have in mind? I added the design service for aero, nothing else… Is there any recommendation, what addons I have to install and what services have to run?
Basically the Desktop Experience Package
and naturally 3D accelerated drivers for your graphic card if you so far avoided that
Hi,
there’s the same problem on my machine (Windows Server 2008). I have Desktop Experience installed and graphic card drivers working fine - still, Unity 2.5 Trial crashes immediately :?
you didn’t install it into c:\program files right? At least not unless you killed UAC as it is, together with not adding an app to the DEP exclusions, likely the best reason for an app to just crash.
Right…adding DEP exclusion was the solution
Go here http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2008/06/17/to-dep-or-not-to-dep.aspx this will show you how to fix this issue. I chose the option to edit my registry directly, it was easier to find than trying to fine the performance options screen in Server 2008…
Have fun!
