[WIP][Android] SiX a minimalistic tower defense

The idea is to build a “leveling army and get bigger and bigger maps” tower defense.
this is a demo for the first 10 levels.
the art style is only halfway there… it’s in the right direction for me but doesn’t have the finishing touch yet.

my concerns are:

  1. are there too few towers? (only 6, but then again initially i wanted to get a mix between class based action strategy and tower defense. that’s why i took the most common soldier classes…)
  2. should the tower visually expand/upgrade? (cubes will be cubes…)
  3. should buying perks be accessible during waves or only in between levels (like it is now)

to do:

  1. make special enemies (like big ones that spit out smaller ones or maybe invisible ones, …)
  2. sound! (all sounds are placeholders)
  3. more player feedback
  4. Balancing!!!

and my main question is: IS THIS FUN???

if so, what do you like about it?
if not, what does it need to be more fun?

Hex grid look is pretty cool

thanks, i was thinking of maybe adding some environmental props to the maps… some grass or tree’s, if it won’t obscure the view to much.

came up with these upgrades for towers to unlock at some level:

  • recon : expand everyone’s range for n sec
  • electronics : relocatable turrets
  • assault : changeable fire modes + direct aim control
  • sniper : ricochet, bullet time
  • demolition : place time bombs
  • heavy : artillery

hmm not sure about adding foliage… any suggestions?

Recon Tower:

the guns had not enough persona, you wouldn’t really have the feeling they were characters and so the whole point of “connecting” with your units (as in leveling them and upgrading them keeping them around…) so i went back to the drawing board where this came out:


now that i think of it, maybe they should be vulnerable to? You give much more about something you can lose… hmm but that’s a big gameplay changer…
