I have a pretty basic prefab brush and I was wondering if I should bother putting it on the asset store as a free asset.
Features:
Easy-to-use brush gizmo
Customizable brush size and density
Random rotation
Random size between min and max value
Works on slopes, hills, curved surfaces,…
Can paint multiple prefabs at once, every prefab has its unique paint settings
Only paint on selected layers
I’m hesitant to put it on the store since it would require a bit of work to get it all polished up, and also because there already are quite a few cheap and wonderful prefab brush tools on the asset store!
For example:
The tool will get support, but there will probably not be any added features in the future. Updates will only exist of bug fixes and minor improvements.
Put it on Github, we’ll judge if it’s worth publishing on the store
I’m not an expert in these matters but i think if you don’t use a special way to instanciate your meshes, like the terrain painter do with details and trees, it will be costly in term of performance.
Anyway, thanks for wanting to share your work for free.
Hey! So my internet has been down for the past 24 hours. I uploaded the tool to github and made a forum post for you to check out. If you experience bugs or you need support, please comment on that thread and not this one. You can also get support through my email.
That’s amazing. One question though: Is this royalty-free? If I, for example, sell one of my games that has used this prefab brush set in it, would it be copyrighted?
I can’t really get it to work… I don’t know if I’m missing a file, doing it wrong, or just don’t know how to. It’s my first time working with any prefab brushes so… do you know how to use it?
Hey! So did you manage to import the ‘Ameye’ folder into your assets? You can always contact me through alexanderameye@gmail.com, that might be easier!
