[WIP] Sci Fi Maintenance Corridor

Hi everyone!

I’m working right now on a modular sci fi maintenance corridor which is using mostly a custom normal workflow and small tiled textures to define roughness and metallic. Vertex colors are used as color id.

Very nice! My only critique is that the positioning of the pipes seems a bit weird unless there’s stuff behind them. It looks like there’s a space behind them, but it isn’t being used for anything. Also the pipes maybe encroach too much toward the center of the corridor.

Custom normals are the way to go! Are you using texture arrays?

Yes, you are right about the pipes, but there will be parts where the pipes are more in the background and have a diffrent flow. I’m not using texture arrays and totally forget they even exist :smile:

It looks good.
The only downside is the repetitive nature of 3D tiles, if you add some props it can break the repetitive pattern.
Another point is the overall design, you have angular patterns on metal pieces that hold the pipes, while you have rounded shapes where pipes just pass throught, it looks strange to not keep the same general shapes (angular or rounded) in a same level.
