[WIP] Speeder Updating to Unity 5

I started updating my asset pack to Unity 5. So far it is working great. I am using Substance Painter to paint my textures and they have export settings for Unity 5.

You should update the asset store pictures.
I don’t like the rust, it is too much like some abandonned boat instead.Perhap a more subtle rust only or scratches instead.
We don’t see material variety, all things are very specular only in the cockpit view, i find 35$ is a bit much for this asset not polished enought without variations.

I’ll store pictures will be updated once the asset is approved by Unity. The new pack will have a clean not rusted version and a worn scratched version. Both will be able to be any color of choice using the albedo color slider. What do you think is a fair price?

Having 5 different ships 35$ would be ok i think, perhaps same cockpit but with different shapes ; as a modeler it’s not difficult to take your base and modify it by extruding and moving faces. People buying your unique 3D model will have a limited use of it , while 5 different shapes and you can use them in a racing game or futurist town populated with these ships.
Always think in how can your buyers have some usage of your assets :slight_smile: (to make them happy)

I agree with you that having more variations would benefit the customer and allow for more variations. I will have to disagree with ease of making variations as you stated. If you extrude and move face you will have to start a new texture bake which is not simple. So it would take 5 different High Poly props baked to 5 different low poly bakes and textures. These are not simple tasks. I will need to consider the time it takes to do this into the price. Thanks for your opinion. Always welcomed.

Making new seams , and baking is not complicated. I don’t know what tools you use, but this is simple if you have a good retopo tool as you modify the retopo only on the modified part.

I’d have to agree with zenGarden on this point. The assets are nice and clean, but if I was putting these up on the asset store I’d probably set the price at 10 dollars.

Especially for mechanical equipment - for your next asset really consider allowing the customer to have modularity in the asset. This gives another incentive for more people to purchase the asset because they can add/take away and alter the base model - so there use with the asset is a little unique and everybody who purchases the asset isn’t looking at the same thing.
Props for offering alt diffuse/albedo using the standard shader color slider.
