WIP: Text and Die

Howdy everyone,

Just wanted to post this quick video of our current mobile game, we’re flying through beta now and getting ready to get this puppy out the door! Have’n fun using the new Unity 2d frame work :smile:

I hope this reaches many people, because texting and driving is probably the stupidest thing I see so many drivers here in Austin, TX do on a regular basis. Hopefully, this game saves a few lives.

Nice, I love games with a message. Shows ‘the people’ that games are not just a wast of time (if you can call ‘having fun’ a wast of time) but can also be used to teach. Good luck!

so you killing people who are texting? That’s a little extreme no? :lol:

This is a fun little game so I don’t mean to discredit it, but what exactly does blowing up cars that are texting teach? And what message does this game convey?

Though, I love the thought of educational games (as my day job is at an educational game company :wink: ) I really don’t think we’re teaching anything with it :wink:

I think it does bring up awareness, as we’re going to have pop-ups with statistics of texting and driving accidents… stuff like that between transitions. But, overall it’s just a game in a spy hunterisc fashion… where you can take out your aggression on texting drivers.

Funny enough, I came up with the idea when a lady (In Austin, Tx) nearly ran me over when I was on my motorcycle; because she was texting and driving.

The game is sort of like an endless runner, in the sense that you’re just trying to get as far as you can while taking out as many Texting drivers as possible. The cops will come after you after you’ve caused enough mayhem and will continue to come as you take out more drivers. You only take damage when hitting normal drivers/cops.

You’ll be armed with a few different powerups and the ‘presents’ will pop-up after taking out texters (not every time, but there’s a chance on collision), presents will add to your powerups, restore life (fuel) or reduce the amount of cops that are after you. Hitting normal drivers isn’t as bad as being tagged by a cop as cops do double dmg, so the powerups are pretty essential to taking them out.

Thankfully the fuzz cares only about taking you out, so they’ll plow into other drivers (doesn’t kill them, but slows them down to buy you time to get more powerups).

Overall - it’s just a fun little game where you get to run down texters. And if someone ‘learns’ something from this, I hope its’ not to go out and try and wreck a bunch of people texting and driving… cause… well, you dont’ get powerups out there holmes!

This looks like a very fun and interesting game! When you release it what mobile devices will it be released to? Also, how much will it cost?

We plan on hitting Android/IOS at launch, then might hit up WP8 after that (depending on how it does on IOS/Android).

Free, we’re to small to try and get the pain market going. We’ll go AD generated (with a simple interstitial when you die) then the offer to upgrade to get rid of ads - usually how we roll.

Hoping to be wrapping up end of this month, too.

We’ve added Achievements and boosts, reworked a lot of the way the core of the game worked and are pretty excited with the product we have now! Can’t wait to launch :slight_smile:
