[WIP] The Wanderer

Hey guys!
So me(a simple farmer/artist from transylvania)
and 2 epic coders from around the world decided to go crazy and make this highly unrealistical
indie FPS rpg, due to our dissapointment with recent games and an acute hunger for glory and loot.

Pretty crazy project but we’re not giving up, we are actually close to having a build with actual gameplay.

Small Description about how the game works/gameplay/size:
Fastest way to describe it is by comparison with other games so here we go.
Gameplay is closest to Gothic (1,2,3) , but first person, and the action is happening
inside a mountain, so it’s mostly (mostly!) dungeons.
The emphasis is on secret areas, hidden loot, combat, tons of loot. the loot.
And random events, exploration is rewarded.
And a ton more with your support.
With your help guys i believe we can make that rpg that will fix the itch we all crave (those old school great games
like Gothic, Diablo I,II , Dungeon Siege , Spellforce etc.)

The Game, The Plan:

We-re focusing on an alpha containing 2-5 quests, one of the 4 main areas (1/4) of the main game.
The inventory/picking up/looting system,
and the combat system.
And some gameplay inside the map (random things) depending on the time and support.

Right now we are checking/testing things in the engine.

Oh what is that?

Oh it’s a dwarven axe. It’s called Ancient Axe (Worn)

Probably the most op weapon in the standard release(pre-last boss fight), and only reachable by accessing some hard to open room. Although probably will be present in the alpha.

I call them weed. Gothic/Risen reference.

If they are a reference, can they be smoked? : p

There are certain NPC’s and even side quests about it, so you can put a pin in that :wink: Although will require crafting.

New items:


Normal Basic Regular Average Fish


Items that differ based on race. First one is a regular human pickaxe, second one is a dwarven pickaxe, also a quest item.


Aaaand some rings. Don’t ask what race they are , I don’t know…

After a lot of thinking and talking with the programmers , we decided to switch to Unreal.
Unity is a good engine, I used it a lot in the past. It’s just not best suited for what we want to achieve.

Can I ask what the reasoning is with the switch, just curious.

It’s mostly graphics. The material editor, particles, how things look overall. Always wanted to use Unreal, the problem was finding capable programmers. Not easy to find.

It’s going to be a steep learning curve maybe? Not trying to argue but why not stick with one Engine and see it through, Unity is a very capable engine too, as you may know :slight_smile: Anyway good luck, I’d like to see the comparison with graphics between the two engines.
