[WIP Title] Beat 'em, 2D, sidescrolling, Beat 'em up.

Hey all, RiokuTheSlayer here! I’m just posting a little thread to talk about my game, more of a hobby game. I have no title for it yet, so I just called it “Beat 'em”. It’s got barely anything right now, but I hope I’m allowed to have it as it’s own thread. I’m going to be working on it, at least a little. I also may post other minigames I make here, because I’ve made the thread anyway. We’ll see.

So what IS “Beat 'em”?:
A 2D, sidescrolling, Beat 'em up that focuses heavily on RPG elements like Leveling Up, Gear that scales with your character, a deep story-line, and lots of enemies, places to go, stuff to collect, and quests to complete

Why are you making this?:
Simple. I want to put my name out there. Along with anyone who decides to join the team.

What’s your overall goal for this game?:
Steam Greenlight, hopefully, one day.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR, HELP WISE:
Artists: 2D, pixel art style. I’m thinking about using a style of characters similar to Starbound, but with a more cartoon look. We’ll chat if you’re interested.

What I’m using for partial inspiration. There will be multiple species in game, but It won’t have the off-the-bat customization of Starbound. Although I hope to have the ability to customize as much, if not more than Starbound later in the game.

Coders: If you’d like, I’d really love to have someone to help me script. I’m using C# for this.

Modelers: Yeup, I need you guys for this game to! Everything will be 3D in a 2D, pixel style environment. “Oh, I don’t model in pixel art style.” No problem. I can convert it with just a few strokes of the keyboard. I may need High-quality models for background renders and such, also.

Writers: We got missions a-plenty to do, guys! I’m hoping to have a few worlds, with at least a dozen, if not more, missions per world. I also have the main storyline down, but we’re not going to focus on bringing that to life until we have the basics of the game done.

Enough of that! Screenshots timmeee!

Just standing here.

Punch!

Jump!

Current setup!

After seeing that, most of you may be like “OH HEY THAT’S MINECRAFT YOU CAN’T DO THAT!” Well, you would be right saying that. But the sprites I’m using are temporary and poorly made. They took fifteen, twenty minuets at max. The moment I get a sprite sheet from an artist, they’re being replaced. Until then, I’m using these.

So yeah! Thanks for stopping by! Hope to hear some feedback and all! I’ll post a build soon!

Update, I’m making a Concept Trailer kinda thing, showing off what I want the game to look like, I’m going to hope to inspire more people to join.

U CANT’ USE THOS MIENCARFT SPRITS!!!111!!121!!@

Overall so far, good work!

Are you allowed to use Steve from Minecraft?
I think he may be copyrighted

Still, good work so far.
If you want any help or someone to help you with the project then let me know

Temporary. 3D art is all I have the skill for, and I don’t do organic modeling. So I can’t make characters. As soon as I get another artist to help me make some sprites, or 3D models, that’s what I’m going to use.

Thanks  It’s not much, I know, but I’m working on it.

I am also trying to figure out how to do a 2d beatemup with a false z axis in unity as a hobby. it’s crazy how popular and overused they were back in the snes and genesis days but i can’t find any good documentation on how they worked. i even found in-depth documentation on how pacman worked but nothing on beatemups. I wish you luck and if you find any general info to help a confused programmer I hope you can post it

Hey @RiokuTheSlayer hows the update coming. Been watching here to see your next iteration. I think you have a cool concept!

Update when you can.

This project was actually lost in a hard drive crash.

I’ve mostly been working on my own private challenges, such as remaking games or elements of those games as best I can. For practice. I’m still searching for a project that catches my attention. I’ve been thinking up things here and there, so I’m working on it.
