Wired's Cult of Mac and EA both like iPhone for games

Just to simplify the discussion over “can e make games for the iPhone” … both Electronic Arts (yes, that EA) and Wired’s Cult of Mac folks think the iPhone is a killer gamers platform.

Yes, Apple’s indicated that for now the iPhone is a closed platform, but certainly we can see where gorgeous screen, touch, and motion sensitive all lead, right?

This is an ideal platform for games (even a PSP killer in many ways) and I, for one, would love to see Unity be at the forefront of development for the iPhone platform.

There, rant over. There’s so much darn talent here that Unity stands to gain huge ground and many people here huge $ by making this happen.

So, Joe? :wink:

Still it doesn’t say anything about what kind of games we’re talking about and if EA is onboard i would say this is good for that the device is capable for some gaming but on the others side were is the need to open it for indies if EA is gonna flood? How much indy content is sold via iTunes?

Actually lots of indy film and music(way easier to get on) content is sold via itunes, just not yet games.

But indy films and music was not always on itunes. So it would stand to reason that indy games may be one day too.

Sigh…

@dingo
Interesting i didn’t know that. Do you have any information about how it works?

@polytropoi
I’ve just browsed your site and when i tried your “32 path of wisdom” (looked interesting) it crashed after a few secs - i tried it two times…

Okay but can you also get directly into contact with Apple/iTunes as an indy if you wish?

Actually you can. If you call Apple directly they will send you a preliminary form that you fill out for indy publishers and that begins the process.

Do you also know if this form is available anywhere and so the conditions?
