Wizard Wars

I’ve recently created a game on the side and it’s getting pretty fun… The Input screen is still a little messy due to me not separating it from my other projects, but it works quite well aside from that.

It’s a two-player game that’s meant to be used with a keyboard + USB controller of some sort.

Due to my lack of funds, I can’t afford to host a web server for this. As such, it’s only playable on the same computer it’s started on.

Other than that, here’s the mechanics:
Magic attacks are charged by holding down the attack button. The longer you hold it down, the stronger the attack.

Each of the five attacks has a natural weakness that destroys it at any power level. (Fire dies against ice, ice dies against lightning, lightning dies against earth, earth dies against water, water dies against fire)

There is also a shield that can be activated by holding down the shield button. This shield drains mana at a fast rate, but blocks most attacks sent at the wizard. If you have almost no mana and a strong spell hits your shield, you become stunned for a little while.

At any time you can toggle flight, which greatly speeds up the wizard and disables mana recovery until toggled off.

Quick question: is this game based on the popular Half-Life mod of the same name? Or is it just coincidence?

I ask because that was an interesting mod.

Hmm… Not really. I didn’t even know that existed…

The point of view is distinctly third-person, instead of first-person, and the gameplay is more tactical fighting than first-person-shooter.

It’s pretty interesting, though. You’re right about that.

Ahh, gotcha. Yeah sorry, I haven’t had a chance to check out your zip file yet. That’s cool tho, my friends and I have discussed cool wizard-y ideas ourselves.

Wizardry is sweet. 8)
