wondering about the new animation tools...

New tools for ‘Animation Authoring’ were mentioned in the ‘Unity 2019 R&D Roadmap’ for being in 2019.2. ‘hoping they’re still on the way.
I can think of soooooo many useful anim’ tools… the more authoring that can done directly in Unity the better imo. i.e to perform character animation in the scene view, whilst working simultaneously with timeline editing would be very powerful…

Here are some details on our roadmap!

For 2019.2, we are working on getting the Animation C# jobs constraints to evaluate in the Animation Window. The best example of that is the Animation Rigging package that provides a toolset for writing advanced post processing constraints for animation (see it here: Animation Rigging | Package Manager UI website). You will be able to preview and keyframe those in the upcoming release. We also did several quality of life improvements to the Animation Window for use with big data sets.

For 2019.3, we aim to enhance our keyframing tools in the Scene View by providing customizable effectors for constraints and improve the creation and edition of character rigs as a whole (and yes keyframing in the scene view :)).
