Working with Unity: 2 QuadHD/4K monitors or 1 SuperWide Monitor?

Hi everyone,

Black Friday is around the corner and I want to upgrade my computer monitors setup.
Right now I use 2 x Dell E2214H (21.5" display, 16:9 aspect ratio, FullHD 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz)… nothing special.

I make mobile games for Android and iOS for now and mainly work on a Windows laptop but it would be nice to be able to connect them to my Macbook Air too.

I want something that has more screen real estate (QHD, 4K ?), is future proof, is availbale in the UK and has a good balance between cost and quality.

What kind of monitors setup do you use please?

The first choices after doing a little bit of research:

  • 2 x **Dell UltraSharp 27 Monitor: U2719D (**27" display, 16:9 aspect ratio, QHD 2560 x 1440 at 60 Hz)
  • 1 x Dell UltraSharp 38 Curved Monitor: U3818DW (38" display, 21:9 aspect ratio, WQHD+ 3840 x 1600 at 60 Hz)

I’m open to suggestions regarding to brands, etc.

Any thoughts/tips please?

Thanks!
Kind Regards,
John

I use a 27" 5K main screen (iMac) and 27" QHD secondary screen (which I have rotated to portrait). It works well for me. One advantage over a superwide is I can have “Maximise on Play” set, but still view information on the second monitor. although I rarely need to do that as I am mostly developing for portrait mobile games.

But I am considering adding a third monitor for when I have lots of stuff open. I am looking at the AOC U2790PQU 4K monitor, which is £312 at Amazon (Homepage | AOC Monitors). Beware when searching for info, there are other models with similar code numbers.

I like having only the main screen on when I need it, but being able to expand on demand.
