This thread will be for my WIP World Stars. This post will be edited from time to time to show my current most up to date work on this project. I decided to put aside my other one and work on something smaller and easier for experience and fun.
The Game Concept
The player will be put in a top down view of a world where you can choose between the Pistachios and the Dwarfs. A war between the twisted whimsical stick men and the proud hardy dwarfs has broken out for a precious mineral of crystal.
The player will choose one of the two sides in either a linear or open map. The material will be placed away from the starting player, forcing you to set forth and collect it. The player will have to battle the other side as well as npc monsters guarding the precious mineral. Once it has been obtained, the player must then bring it back to their base to change it into cash. The cash is then spent on several different things such as;
- extra units to help build, fight or collect - base or forward base additions such as a barracks or infirmary - weapons/siege
Once the player has obtained their cash and army they can push towards the enemies base and lay siege to them! A simple yet fun concept!
The Work So Far!!!
Below are videos showing what I have so far for the game. OLD

Troubled Areas
My new troubled area is the Cameraâs ability to scale/reposition itself based on whether an object is obstructing it or not. Iâve tried raycasting and OnCollisionEnterâs to fix this and both have their flaws and problems. So any tips on how to go about doing this smoothly please feel free to share.
Just a quick update to show some progress. Havenât added much yet as I was stuck on a bit of coding and tons of hours with real life work. But back at it again. Currently working on Dwarf models, animations and props.
Video shows rotate camera feature, and some props added. Also have music for each scene, but limiting it so I can commentate on what was added.
Itâs a cool concept. I personally think it would be cool if some of the powerups you end up getting could be the equivalent of âSuper Movesâ in Street Fighter. Like you buy some giant Sun Cannon that launches a ridiculous fireball which does crazy damage, but can only be used once until you can afford another one. I guess it depends on what type of feel youâre going for the game, but I kinda love the more unrealistic games where things like that are possible.
At pastywhite: That concept is actually something I was thinking of too. I donât know if youâve ever played any of the Warlords Battlecry games, but in the 2nd on there are giant heroes called Titans which can be only bought once in a map, cost a lot, and do super heavy damage. I was thinking of adding either a hero or spell of similar nature that could only be obtained once or one at a time. Like maybe a pinocchio character for a hero named âThe Real Boyâ who gets super moves or the dwarfs get a super siege that does something similar to what you said. Havenât got that far yet though, still working on the dwarf pawns atm. But sounded good.
At James: I thought evil warped pinocchio characters would be funny to see on the rampage. Knowing that I couldnât use the name I changed them to Pistachios. I was thinking about doing something funny for their opponents as well, but then decided to make at least one somewhat serious race in it to make the Pistachios stand out more. It didnât make sense like you say as dwarfs and trolls would, but it made me laugh when I finished animating the Pistachioâs run and decided to make the Dwarfâs Axe Handles out of Pistachio legs.
Another small update. Iâve done a bit more, but for now Iâm only gonna show the Wall Building process that I have so far.
As I said in the OP, this game allows you to collect resources and spend them on things such as walls or buildings. This video is just to show how the wall building process will be once in place. Of course some things about this may change, but for now this is what I have and Iâm satisfied with it while I work on other areas. (And no, obviously that wall isnât going to be in the end product of the game. Itâs just my test dummy while I build itâs scripts.)
