would you buy Souls Butchers game (source code) from the asset store for 120$ ?

Hi Everyone,

We are planning to release the source code including all models, textures, scripts and a documentation of our game “Souls Butchers” into the asset store for 120$ so would you buy it, the following video showcases its beta gameplay but we are making it much better over time.

if we got a good number of users who will buy it then we will for sure release it and even we might lower the price according to the number of interested people

Could I use all files in a similar game and sell it?!
Sorry, i am asking because i dont know much about my rights when I buy a game source code.
thanks

Depends on the EULA attached to it.

I’m interested - provided we can use all the files in our own commercial games.

yes you can

Yes, a survival horror game kit would definitely peak my interest, but $120 is a bit steep (of course it depends on how good it is). Maybe $75-$100?

Is it just a “kill-everyone” game as it seems to be?! how many levels does it has?

I like the menu screen

No, the game will have a story, you will have also to do some tasks and to figure out some puzzles “something like resident evil” as this is not the final version, this is just a 2 weeks development prototype, maybe we will have a car to drive as well.

for the number of levels then I can’t just tell you a level number since it is like resident evil so you might think of it as an island with a hospital in the middle and you must reach a target and face issues and solve some puzzles while you are trying to do so.

Thank you so much

As a programmer I am more interested in what language you have coded it in and what coding practices you have applied.

I am looking to purchase some source code as something to read, learn off and expand my knowledge of game programming architecture, am also just very curious to other peoples styles of putting it all together

As for myself - $100 is properly a little steep as I cant afford it.

In my experience the opinions on the forums do not translate into asset store sales. This poll is a good idea but not everyone who develops on Unity uses these forums, nor are they all interested in taking polls and reading posts that don’t relate to their own projects. I wish that weren’t the case, but I’m fairly certain that it is. However, I do think that those here who say they will buy something generally will.

Just saying- take the poll results with a grain of salt. I for one would not purchase your game because the animations aren’t very clean (like when the player character swings his halibred, his model slides all over the place and then he looks like he jumps or something, and there is no discernible animation for when he nor the zombies are hit). The animations are an utter mess. The sounds are very poor quality, and there is a sort of choppiness to all of the motion, why is the player’s head in the ceiling when the game starts?

It looks like you actually have put some work into this, and your models and textures look good, if not 10 years dated. The characters also look like they were made in Poser 4, my apologies if I’m wrong. Reminds me of Shenmue a bit, or Blue Stinger for Dreamcast. I suggest you polish your animations, put some real effort into sound effects and music, and maybe lower your price. As it is, I would buy this for no more than $20, but that’s just me.

I also second Pip’s comment- the interest that I would have, as an artist, in a barebones game is the quality of your programming and how easily I can plug my art and animations and scripts into this thing, or how easily i can take your code out of it. I get the feeling that the code may be as shoddy as the character animations, sounds, particle effects, player controller etc.

Some other important questions:
How many level are there in this? How many enemy and player models and animations are there? Are there other weapons? Is there an inventory system? Is that gameplay video all that you have? You really aren’t giving us much info, break down what this includes, including the scripting and what it does, what language its in…

I´m interested, too.

But we really need some firearms
No Zombie game without a shotgun…

As i mentioned before, this is just a 2 weeks prototype and not the final delivery of it, the character animation will be much enhanced with locomotion system and everything else will be fixed in the final delivery but you are totally right in that, thanks

Again, this is just a 2 weeks proto and forgive me if i gave you the wrong impression but we wanted to get feedback from the community.

The character is me  not a poser one also excuse me but this is a work of a 1 programmer and a 1 artist in 2 weeks as a prototype in a non full-time bases as I mentioned before which is something good for a delivery in such a time, isn’t it?

I am sure that you would love the codes of this prototype and the final delivery as you can easily place attack and hit animations in a list inside of the inspector on the other hand the animations will be much enhanced with locomotion

you can find the answer in this previous post here

We currently have 3 types of enemies until now “showcasing only 1”, we will add 2-3 more enemies so the final number will be 5 to 6, ofcourse they will have better animation, textures, etc

There are 3 more weapons to select from “pistol, shotgun, knife” and an inventory system so you can add more weapons easily.

I have more but I will post it on the final delivery, I only posted this prototype to get more indicator on whether to consider it as a tutorial beside being a game or to just keep developing it to be a game only for a business plan side of view, sorry if I made bad impression or negative indications

Yes, I’am sorry for that :frowning: but I will give much more information as we get near the final delivery

We are having 2, a pistol and a shotgun

Sorry if I was too harsh, I didn’t realize that this was a prototype. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much and I hope we deliver up to the expctations
