What will happen The raptors (Velociraptor, Deinonychus, ect) will behave as realistic as to my ability. I’m going to model their behavior much like that of a leopard gecko. Meaning, you can tell that they’re about to pounce by the way their tail moves. And it will have separate checks to see if it’s possible for you to die. So lets say we’re being stalked by a raptor we’ve encountered or one that has seen us. So as they’re getting ready a raycast is sent out, and if it hits us it pounces, if not it starts to search again, but when it does pounce it will send another raycast from the bottom of the raptor Because it will be in the air and if it hits us, we die and the camera pans out to see our demise. If it hits nothing it will do the pounce failed function and it will just land on the ground and hide.

Plausible Another fun thing, I really hope to work on later is this… Say it’s hunting us and we climb up a tree or on a cliff. As it’s searching for us, they’re gonna hit a wall, so around every few seconds it will shoot a ray cast a certain distance and if it hits a wall or ect. It will do a check to see if it has lost you or you’re Y-axis is different then theirs. And if its a substantial amount it will then do what I’m sure you’ve all seen. It will leap at you like in Jurassic Park. Im sure you’re like, but what if it can jump over the obstacle, well Im sure I can make it send a raycast at from its feet facing forward, and if it hits a climbable ledge, then it will go forward enough to where it would land on the ledge, and then play the land animation.

Of course the above is possible, but it is certainly not impossible, that being said I hope I’ve sparked your interest to follow the project, and with that… The alpha build is going to hopefully be done in early July. I will post only video of it and not the demo, if people don’t seem so interested in this project.

Hi, I’m Matthew from Ascendence Studios. I’ve worked on Wrath Of The Goliaths for a couple weeks now and hope to achieve a resemblance to
another dinosaur hunting game called Carnivores which was recently ported to mobile devices.I recently found out it was ported to the PS3 in HD, looks great but this project is still continuing on!

I have such a passion for dinosaurs, Jurassic Park started it :stuck_out_tongue: And now I have tuned up my skills in the game industry and decided to try to make something official for once. Please forgive me for my failure of a project, Project : Dread. That was obviously just to warm up my skill. I’d love to show you guys a web-player demo very soon, but I’m having a lot of trouble with AI and how to get my player to swim properly without a rigidbody, I’d use one, but something in my script forces my player to launch upward very fast at the start of the game.

The main level is pretty much complete. I might include more. I hope to make this a series, and programmers are always welcomed to join me and make a hell of a game.

Looks interesting… was a big fan of Carnivores!

I am extremely fascinated by the Jurassic era. I mean…it’s just epic. But there hasn’t been a single game where you are really put into the world of dinosaurs and the early stage of earth.

I want a game that is all randomly generated. Everything is a forest and natural. (unless you’re in the cold and other climates). The thing I dislike about the concept here is that you have access to various amounts of weapons. Such as pistols. And that really takes the immersion away from the game. ‘Oh, I can just kill this dinosaur by shooting him with my pistol! Yay!’ that really takes you out of the game.

The other negative part of the concept is the ability to choose the species you can hunt. I would want the world to be diverse and open for me to explore and hide from wild dinosaurs. Choosing it would be pretty…weird.

Well, I do agree with the amount of weapon choices is large, you have to work hard and earn them. There is a point system that will be added to it, so you have to pay select what weapon you want and what dino to hunt.
The one thing I wontt do that Carnivores does, and its only because I want it to be a large lush island, and carnivores has multiple islands. I might change this later.
I’m really sorry if I didn’t make this clear, but all dinos will be on the island as once, it’s just you cant take them back and add them to your trophy room.
Like in Carnivores, you’re able to hunt all of the dinos, you just cant keep the ones you selected before you left to hunt :slight_smile:

Im really sorry if you were hoping this to be about only Jurassic Era dinos, this isn’t exclusive to the Jurassic Era. I want all kinds of dinos in this, you know crazy people pay up the fortune to shoot dinos :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay, after much delay of new news. I must say the whole project had been corrupted, but now that its been a while, my skills are much better than before and I have so much to show you. I had the T-rex and OviraptorYet to be shown rigged by my friend Conor do them, but I did rig the Triceratops. I have had to practically code all by myself, except for the main menu. My friend Ivar helped me program that, I was trying to do serialization for 3 profiles. Didn’t work so well, data kept being erased after we stopped playing. So for now we’re doing PlayerPrefs. That being said. I made all the models, the textures on the models, the particle FX If you can see it on the map _Sandy The poor animations I’m pretty bad at that The programming and level design. So lets begin…

GAMEPLAY: I programmed the AI to have random age, speed, width, weight, height, aggro amounts, flee amounts, calling chance, and much more. It also takes into account that if its a certain age it will be an adult or baby, babies will obviously be worth less points than adults. I also have, a theory code (Meaning I haven’t had a chance to test them yet) that allows you to bag and receive points from game that you’ve hunted. You also will be able to choose to keep game as a trophy. I also hope to be able to change the Dinosaurs skin when a certain map is selected. In development right now are three maps, titled: _Sandy (The Most complete and presented of the 3) _Mountain, and _Swamp.

I really like how this turned out, it’s the deinonychus! It isn’t fully textured yet, but I hope to try to texture it. I hope to make it one of the first hunt-able dinosaurs for a demo! The dinosaurs aren’t going to be feathered, possibly.

Well, Ill have a playable demo out very soon, within a week or two. The only bad part about it I would say is a few textures, the T-rex model(I really want to re-do it) and the animations.

Well, I didn’t post the demo here, but on my Facebook Page rather. And unfortunately I took it down the day after, because it was the wrong level.

So here is the updated T-rex done by my friend Manuel

It is amazing, and he will soon, hopefully rather, send me the HQ resolution of the t-rex texture. He sent me a 2048x2048 Eyeball texture instead haha. I did shrink that down to 512x512, probably going to be lower, because of the teeny eyeball.

So yeah, he is a great artist, and got it done exactly the day he said he would. Very punctual!
