Wreck It Ralph!

Just saw the movie. I was actually impressed by it.

I highly recommend it - lots of good gamer culture in there, even a cameo of the Konami Code, Shoryuken, and…blah, I’ll ruin the movie if I go on!

But, I still have one wager. I bet, if you go to one of the few operating arcades in North America in the next three to six months, you see a racer called Sugar Rush, and a First Person Shooter called Hero’s Duty. Just sayin’.

I miss arcades :frowning:

It had a lot of great cameos and references that made me smile, but overall I didn’t think the movie was very good. I was expecting it to be a bit more about more games than it was. I also probably was expecting much better from it because it does have John Lasseter as executive producer. Overall it was a fun movie, though. I also bet that Disney is going to develop those arcade games, just how Tron was developed after the movie.

Did you know that those 2 games are on Disney’s site, made with Unity? And Fix It Felix Jr is in Flash there.

it was inserting watching wreck it Ralph from a gamer and a Indie developers perspective

Can’t wait to catch this movie when it releases in my location.

As do I. Now where can I show kids puppies in my van?

I loved this movie. It was Toy Story but for MY generation. As great as Toy Story was, it never fully clicked with me. Other than Lego, I was never much of a toy kid. NES was my toy.

Same here, man. Same here.

During the Konami Code reference, a dude my age who’s a serious console gamer and myself were whispering the Konami Code under our breaths at the same time; the two older guys who came along looked like, “you know that key sequence?” Duh. Most influential cheat/debug code of all time, because it was more or less a standard in the NES era.

On the way to lunch today, we were reminescing about Street Fighter…and the guy I went to work with took the wrong way where we were going because we were both trying to remember Major Bison’s name (obviously we succeeded on both counts sooner or later).

Long made short, despite the actual story which was at least OK - I actually teared up a few times, something most movies don’t come close to inspiring in me - it also reminded me why I wanted to make games in the first place.

That sort of inspiration to me is priceless.

Man, I’ve actually been waiting for like a year for this movie… and it doesn’t seem to be playing near where I live :frowning: Guess i’ll just get it from the p to the y.

Loved the version of Hero’s Duty there man! Sure, I only played the first two levels, but it was good to see that retro arcade feel once again!

I’m not going to play Sugar Rush, because the mere act of loading it would get me docked man-points. even though it’s probably the cutest cart racing game ever made…good thing I’m not into sweets! (Much). In other news: why can’t Size 1 have a size 1?

Man point be ****ed. I played it. It’s not as good as the movie’s version… But then, I didn’t really expect it would be, for a free web game. It could use a lot of polish, but it’s a pretty competent attempt at it.
