Wrong Animation Playing with Animator's Blend Tree

I’m learning how to use the Unity Animator in a top-down RPG. The player can move in the four cardinal directions and thus has for animations for walking up, down, left and right.

Here’s the problem: When the player is moving diagonally, the up/down animation plays, but I want the right/left animation to play instead. What can I do to make sure the left/right animation will take precedence when moving diagonally?
