WWW and DDS loading textures

Hi are DDS files really not supported by WWW loading requests?

I have been trying to find information about this, but from the documentation it says that WWW only supports JPG and PNG formats, in my fbx models I use DDS texture files and they look fine on my game, how is that Unity doesn't support DDS loading directly from files?

Is there any work around? like creating an assetbundle with a set of textures?

I guess creating an assetbundle should work, but i haven't tried it yet.

Without assetbundles i would use PNG since it's a loss-free format, still pretty small and support an alpha-channel
