Just a random question, I was under the impression .x model format was kind of common place so why isnt it supported? Was this because unity development use to be for mac only?
Unity only supports .fbx, or .obj for non-animated models. Nothing to do with Macs, which can read .x files just fine (like with Blender); it’s just another file format after all. I always got the impression it wasn’t really used widely.

whats the supported file formats for animated models? And no offense to Blender users but are there any other programs that are affordable and simple to use that can be used to make animated and static objects for Unity?
Filmbox supports animation just fine, Unity bridges directly to just about any major 3D Animation software, Cinema 4D, Maya, 3D Max etc allowing you to use their files directly in the editor without requiring you to export to any format manually (it imports them via FBX and the host app, updating them as you update them in your main app).
maybe they will have some good day after thanksgiving sail lol
wishful thinking I know. In truth once i get into the airforce my money will be saved up for either Lightwave, Maya, or just go all out and get max. In the meentime im gonna look at cinema 4d
