Xbox and PS3 Deving Information

Just thought id post this info about Xbox and ps3 info.

Hi Colin,

Unlike our standard licensing model, console licensing for Unity is on a per-title basis and requires that you are registered with Sony/Microsoft as a console developer and possess the console SDK and devkits.

Development for these platforms takes place in the same environment and format as standard Unity 3.0 projects, so it’s a relatively straightforward process to start on the PC/Mac and bring your game to the console later.

XBox and PS3 pricing is set at $80K per XBox or PS3 title, and $40K per XBLA or PSN title.

XBox Live Indie and XNA are not supported, sorry!

Nintendo Wii developer: http://www.warioworld.com/
Sony PlayStation 3 developer: http://www.scedev.net/ps3/

its kinda like saying “atm machine” or “psn network”

Um, not even close… Two totally different things.
SDK = Software Development Kit (no hardware)
Devkit = Hardware development version of either Xbox or PS3.

@colinter220 - Not sure you should be posting direct correspondence between Unity and you on a public forum. Especially if it is not publicly available and you has to request this information.

Different parlance I guess. From where I am software development kit in short is devkit. Notice how they both have “dev” and “kit” in them.
