Xbox One Compatability

So I’ve went through all the steps of getting an id@xbox account, got everything setup, and cannot figure out where to get the build module for xbox one for unity. The microsoft dev center seems to be exclusively for developing games on windows, and can’t find anything in there related to xbox one.

The ID@Xbox website isn’t very informative either, and leads you to pages that lead back to the original page you started on. I’ve already got the console setup in dev mode, but the instructions that DO exist are exclusively for developing in visual studio, not unity.

Is there anyone out there that could offer some insight?

So, it looks like the ‘XBox One’ build option is irrelevant and shouldn’t be in the unity options anymore? I found where I need to go to it working, of all places ‘Windows Store’ build type, and that’ll create a UWP that I load into visual studio 2015 v2 and then I compile to the xbone from there.

Interesting. Sorry to go off topic, did you have to pay a big fee to deploy to it? I’m curious how hard that platform is to reach.

No, Microsoft made the indie developer network for that reason. It does require a one time fee ($19 for individual), or ($99 for company) to get access to the dev network, but after that all it requires is an xbox one. There is an app in the app store called Dev Mode Activation that you install on your xbone, and it converts it to a development kit (With the ability to go back to to retail at any time, and switch back and forth on the fly).

If you plan to use xbox live, it requires that you submit detailed information to microsoft about your game, but to just develop and deploy on xbox one, it’s free (Aside from the initial fee)

Take a look at this page if you are interested in signing up:

Took me about a week to get accepted.

(If you are a serious studio who really plans to develop games for selling on the store, and you submit your game idea (with an NDA) to microsoft, they will send you two free development kits for you to use).

Wow awesome. I’ll definitely check this out.

yeah, I am in the process of expanding my studio and this is the first step in doing so. Have huge plans for this upcoming game im working on so really excited to see it on xbox one.

Without going off into NDA territory…
Im in the same situation.
I have the tools, and hardware I need, and can do UWP, but I was under the impression I could still do native builds
