I used to use Windows Vista, but switched to XP this week. Now I get an error when I try to launch Unity.
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002).

So we can only get vista or 7 or wait
are you running on an admin account?
keep in mind, xp has no elevated rights
Thanks dreamora,
Are you saying I schould log in as an admin?
Unity 2.6 worked without a problem, did something change in this respect?
Thanks again, Robert
I have the same “0xc0150002” error as well. It works fine for me at work (but I have to use it when the boss isn’t there. I just did a fresh install of xp home, sp3 on a new HD and attempted to install Unity3. It did immediately gave me the error when I tried to launch it. A reinstall did the same thing. My pc at work is XP pro. I’d appreciate any help on a fix, using it at home would be much easier, no worry about getting in trouble and all that.
Well I tried uninstalling, cleaning registry and reinstallling, etc, etc. I couldn’t get anything to work. I decided to reinstall Visual Express Studio 2010 C++, just to have something to mess with. After installing that and playing around a bit I gave Unity 3 one more try and it worked.
I’m wondering if something in that C++ Visual Studio added some files that were missing. Might want to give it a try any who are having that error. It installed 11 items on my pc, I didn’t think to write them all down or I’d list them here for someone to see maybe which one it could have been.
I had tried Unity 3 several, several, several times, rebooted, etc. It would not work until I installed C++ 2010.
Thanks trickySpark,
I’m going to try that later in the day.
I will also try to write down all the info that I think will be usefull to understand the problem.

for solving this problem you need install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) 1.7Мб
Thnx! That fixed my problem and now it works fine!
I try it with the C++ 2010 package and it didnt work on XP-Pro.
try also Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
Unity 3 was compiled with VS 2008 and a package from 2010 won’t work.
Automatic updates from XP Should keep your pc up to date anyways, so make sure thats left on. Do a manual update as well if your PC missed anything. And .NET Framework might have something to do with it aswell.
please help. i have this problem ![]()
