I am new to Unity and still on a (steep) learning curve.
I would like to know if there is support for yaw pitch roll built into unity.
For a craft flying/floating in 3d space I want to have the player control (and AI control) the yaw, pitch, and roll of the craft. This means that relative to the object a yaw adjusment is a left or right adjustment (pitch is up down and roll is spin on the forward axis).
In world coordinate/orientation this means the adjustment to orientation is typically in all three axises in most cases (i.e. if I am already at a pitch of 45 deg and I want to turn left then I need to adjust my orientation in the three world axises).
Does unity support this? If it does, how do I accomplish this?
If you’re using physics to simulate the vehicle’s motion, then you’ll want to use torque to change its yaw, pitch and roll. Look through the script reference for rigidbody and torque for more info.
I am perfectly fine using the built in physics. In fact quite glad to learn this is there. I will look into this but a little more info might help me find the documentation.
I expect I’ll find this documented somewhere in the scripting help / doc areas?
