You currently do not have a valid certificate - Provision

I’m trying to create a developer certificate, but not having much luck. I followed the instructions carefully. I set both the preferences options to off in KeyChain (although they were both already off. ) Then I Request a Key. My email address and name were already entered for me, but I checked that they were exactly as I signed up. I saved the file to disk, and noted that Keychain had added them to the login keychain automatically. I have a public key and a private key, both with my name on them. They show up as RSA 2048 bit, as they’re supposed to.

I downloaded the WWDR intermediate certificate and noted that this too was automatically added to the login keychain. It show as valid.

Now when I go to the developer tab, it still says "you currently have no valid certificate. There is no “Add Certificate” button as there is in the video demo, so I can’t upload my saved certificate.

Not sure what I could be doing wrong. I followed the instructions and the video to the letter, but no joy. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Does it matter that I installed XCode 3.2.3 and not 3.2.4? Neither XCode nor any of its support tools seem to be involved in creating this key, so I assumed it made no difference.

I’ve tried recreating the certificate with every possible combination of my name and email address, even though I know which combination I used, but I just get the same “you do not have a valid certificate” message. Of course I don’t have a valid certificate, that’s why I want to upload the request.

No, it shouldn’t. I haven’t had any problems so sorry, but I can’t think of anything you did wrong, it sounded right to me.

Which video were you referring to by the way?

Thanks Peter. Good to know that I’m not being a complete div, although frustrating that I’m probably stuck till Apple respond.

The video, if you’re in the iOS Provisioning Portal, on the right hand side under “How To’s”, it’s under the heading “Obtaining your certificate”.

The only thing mentioned in the video that you did not say is whether or not you had your certificate uploaded to the iOS portal then approved. If you are an individual or the Admin/Person in charge, then you will just approve yourself, otherwise, contact that person for approval.

It wouldn’t allow me to upload anything.

Anyway, I’ve just tried again and found a wizard to take me through all the steps automatically. Not sure if I missed it yesterday or what, but it bypassed not letting me upload, and I think I have it working now.
