Let’s be perfectly honest, Unity can be a genuine pain and is far from being the best engine on the market, but it does have it’s strengths. But if you could make your engine, incorporating your favourite parts of other engines, what would it be like?
Basically Unity , with a built in code editor , a more aggressive autocomplete in the IDE .
One scripting language , C# , a 2D mode .
Cant really complain about cost , since Unity is good enough to let me upgrade my free Android license for 125$ and I don’t need pro features .

I would have to agree for the most part with Bruno on this one if I were making games for money. I do this as a hobby, though, so my perfect engine would be an engine with the ease of use and pipeline of Unity, all the features of Unity, but with a much better built-in GUI system than Unity. Maybe sprinkle on a few more features.

On car engines, I would take a 1200 horsepower W16 with 1100 foot-pounds of torque. It’s pretty much the engine off the Veyron supersport. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will fit nicely into my Passat :p.
It’d be pretty neat if there was an engine that inputs game ideas and outputs the results. Of course the market would then be FLOODED with games. Whether that’s good or bad - you decide.
It would be a modified unity that lets you use light-maps and normal maps on terrain and lest you pick and choose what feature plugins to buy (although I entirely understand why they don’t use that model).

A game engine like this. Just tell the computer Make me call of duty combined with skyrim and GTA but better. BOOM game pops out.

Advanced LOD path-finding built in.
