I’ve just begun playing around and realized things look like they are moving in slow motion, sort of, or on the moon-
I searched the forums and found a post that indicated it had to do with scale.
However, even when I make something really small (like the stack of boxes in the FPS playground) things still fall “slowly”…
I’m on a dual 2 gig G5 so I don’t think it’s just processing.
Also, where can the global things (such as gravity) be changed?
(now… I’ll go look in the manual…)
thx
Andrew
I’m sure you’ve read my scale/gravity explanation in the other thread, but I’ll link to it here to be sure: http://forum.otee.dk/viewtopic.php?t=1117
The cubes in the Unity demo aren’t really tiny. They are about 3 meters tall if I remember correctly. Other factors affecting rate of fall is drag and the actual gravity acceleration, which can be set through scripting or via the Dynamics manager.
Movies often manipulate speed and scale and use cables and pulleys to break the laws of nature. What you might be looking for is not real realistic physics but film-physics. Often setting the gravity a bit higher than normal looks more realistic than the real world (ie. make them look more film-like).
Hi Keli -
Yes, I saw the other post - but I’m quite sure I’m not looking for “film-physics” but rather “real-world” physics…
Anyway, what are optimal settings for “real-world” physics?
I’m still experimenting…
Thanks,
Andrew
