Hello, one of my assets i tried uploading to the asset store got declined, but in the email there is no reason for it, it says:
“We’ve reviewed the submission and consistent with the criteria considered in our approval process, we have chosen not to publish this asset. However, we greatly appreciate the time and effort spent in preparing your submission.”
I know they can decline if they want, but I don’t see what could be wrong with the asset, all the prefabs share the same material, and are well organized into folders, would love to hear some tips on what to improve in order to get assets accepted.
Could possibly be because the Asset Store is flooded with models, and only want to accept certain models now. If I were you’d I’d try to make other things. I made a set of nearly AAA quality if not AAA, and not one sale yet on the models. (Why? - because it’s flooded with models).
Yeah, just depreciated my weapons pack, been on there for 5 months - no sales. To much stuff lol… So yeah, I highly advise checking the sections for sections that don’t have many things. Such as AI, has like 112 / 113. Not many things compared to Models. But is there anything you can make better in there that’s already done? Or something that isn’t done? - As soon as you figure that out, start to working
Yep thanks , here is an asset i recently finished if you want to check it out, still pending review though hope it gets accepted https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VolkMXIqkk
As a coder only, I go to the store for models, there’s never enough models of the correct feel and style. I don’t want anything with scripts, other than editor tools - If I want a script, I’ll write one myself.
Don’t be disheartened, if the asset store won’t take it, that’s their loss, try turbosquid or other store.
It’s more than simply competition. The competition is bringing massive packs of content at ridiculously low prices. Check out this fantasy pack for example. Not only is it truly massive, but it receives somewhat frequent updates with new content.
On a side note Unity seriously needs a better way to view screenshots. I sat there clicking through them for a few minutes before reaching the very end.
The Unreal Marketplace is steadily receiving new content but it’s still very sparse there. It might be easier to showcase your product but at the same time a fair number of people are slowly porting their Unity assets to there. Long term you’ll likely see the same degree of competition.
The assets aren’t particularly striking (does not mean they are bad). They probably just declined it on preference… because the quality looks fine and inline with the style of game that would be using them.
The Asset Store really is quite flooded, though. There are piles of new assets daily and most of them are Art. Its likely that they are just trying to use stronger approval filters. It already takes 10 - 15 days to get something reviewed so perhaps stuff that doesn’t look particularly interesting might be declined.
I think they key thing for model packs is to go big and varied. Its very hard for a non-artist to match assets from different packs and get a consistent style, so creating small targeted packs doesn’t serve the market well.
They are great looking models. Price is $70. The sad thing (well for the content providers) is that much like games… in time assets like this will be $25 and then $7… instead of $70. It is just how it goes… that race to the bottom… as more and more people come in chasing money and more and more and more and more stuff gets published to the asset store.
There are two basic ways to go about competing. One path is definitely a race to the bottom, but the other path is similar to the one the author has taken. A continuous increase to the value of the pack. I bought this asset pack back when it was around version 1.8 and since then it has had over 100 models added.
Regardless of the path taken though the competition is fierce. If you’re going to sell common assets you’ll have to keep up with competition but if you sell uncommon ones you may not find many buyers.
I see those as kind of the same thing in the end. Ultimately, it all comes down to more work and time for less pay either way we cut it. Still it is an alternative to lowering the price. Just give more and more and more and more for the same price.
While saturated markets (ie. ios/android stores) can become a problem and store proprietors can certainly try and maintain a more “upscale” marketplace if they want, I am confused as to why it won’t accept the OP’s model currently. I’m not saying the asset will sell well, it’s just it wouldn’t really clutter up the place currently. We may get to that day at some-point but I don’t think we are there yet. I feel this way because of the following.
The AssetStore is not currently optimized for customer efficiency. Search on the store could be drastically improved both with limiting searches to categories, or versions of Unity, etc. Improving the store functionality would increase the number of assets it can hold before saturation and discovering good things becomes difficult.
Most entiresubcategories are still easily navigated from top to bottom meaning you can realistically glance at all the assets currently available. While at some point the tipping point will be reached we aren’t there yet.
There is still a lot of cleanup of old assets that could be done. Whether Unity would choose to remove them or segregate them to their own section (ie. assets only supporting legacy versions of Unity) doesn’t matter but look at the back pages of any subcategory and you will see obvious candidates that are less valuable than OP’s models
