Budget pc

Hallo so I always loved games and i wanted to make my own game i tried other programs like game maker and rpg game maker mv but now i want to start with unity so
I already have i3 4gb ram Intel 4000 hd PC it works fine with rpg game maker but I’m not sure if he will be enough for unity
So I want to get new one … my budget 150-300 $ dollar what do you think I should get
I know it’s not to much but I want to use it for a while to learn the basics not to make big games

You won’t be able to make a PC that would be any better for that sort of budget. Your best bet would be to upgrade what you have now rather than buy entirely new.

Given your limited budget, I’d recommend approaching the major pain points you’ll be experiencing: memory and GPU.

For the GPU, you’ll see significant improvements regardless, but for your price range I’d go with [this](Used - Very Good: MSI Radeon RX 570 Video Card RX 570 ARMOR MK2 8G OC - Newegg.com 570&cm_re=rx_570--14-137-291--Product), or [this](Used - Very Good: MSI Radeon RX 580 Video Card RX 580 ARMOR 8G OC - Newegg.com 580&cm_re=rx_580--14-137-118--Product).

The rest of the money should go towards getting two 8gb sticks. Given that it’s an i3, you probably need DDR3, but I don’t know what timing your motherboard supports.

I agree that a few cost effective upgrades to the existing PC are all that budget would allow. A budget of US $150-$300 is not enough for a complete new system build. Add 8GB of RAM to your motherboard and install a dedicated GPU.

Post more details about your exact system hardware, and we can try to recommend specific RAM upgrades. For example, you can use the free CPU-Z program to get details about your CPU, Motherboard, Memory, and Graphics. Take screenshots of those tabs from CPU-Z and post those screenshots in this thread.

That’s just too low. You need to get to around 500 bucks to do a good rig. A great cost effective CPU / Mobo / Ram combo is:

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor
MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory

As a base. This costs around 350 but is really, really solid performance, I’ve built 2 of them recently and they run every new game at 60fps on Ulta (or VR). But obviously there’s no case, gpu, psu, ssd and all the other things needed. But IMHO you want to use this as the baseline because otherwise you won’t be in the right position to handle some heavy lifting like baking or any other tasks.

For experienced cheap system builders you could grab a used xeon and a crappy knock off mobo from china. Surprisingly good sweet spot but again, need to be experienced.

So you need 600 bucks really. And that would get you a strong and brilliant gaming/dev rig. So save up and wait IMHO. Get 600 bucks.

However if you supply more information about the current machine you have, perhaps there’s life in the old dog yet?

Otherwise you can look at extending the life of your current machine with an nvidia 1650S graphics card and 8GB ram (16 ideal) + a fresh system format / reinstall.

For someone living in the United States you can very easily build a superior system for $300. Intel HD 4000 means the i3 processor is either a 3225 (2C/4T @ 3.3GHz) or 3245 (2C/4T @ 3.4GHz) which is very old at this point and much slower than a Ryzen 2400G (4C/8T @ 3.6GHz). And Vega 11 will completely destroy Intel HD 4000.

That said it’s not necessarily the best investment. You can pick up a used Dell Precision T3500 workstation for under $100.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Precision-Workstation-T3500-Xeon-W3550-2-8ghz-12GB-DVDRW-250GB-Quadro-600/233125385198

You will want to replace the PSU since it only has a single 6-pin PCIe connector but that’s trivial as the case is compatible with normal ATX PSUs and there are no unique connectors used for any of the parts. Once you’ve done that you can pick up a used RX 580 for around $100.

For someone outside of the US you might have to look through the listings for a while but there should be some for most major countries. Dell’s Precision T3500 was a very common workstation. Additionally it’s capable of being upgraded to a six-core/twelve-thread CPU for around $20.

However

It is, you don’t need to use all the fancy graphics, I have worked on pc worse than yours with unity. Disable PBR shader (slow even on gt 705) and use legacy or unlit, and that’s enough to touch the basics already.

That said everything people told you above will give you comfort.
