FPS GameMode Ideas?

Hello Unity Community,
I hoping to create a modern-like FPS but I will need the community’s ideas, suggestions and what you would like to see.
So, for now, here is my basic gamemode ideas:

Titan - We all remember Juggernaut, in this case the “Titan”, someone is an overpowered, crazy maniac with supernatural abilities while the other medium armed soldiers have to destroy him, the person who destroys him automatically becomes the Titan.

VIP - There are two teams, one of which contains the VIP, this team have to escort him to the given location while the opposition try to kill the VIP.
After the VIP has reached the destination or been killed the round will end, and it’s time to swap roles.

Team Deathmatch/TDM - This explains itself, two teams fight with all they’ve got to win the match, it may or may not contain vehicles depending on the map.

Scavenger - This idea is similar to COD Ghosts’s “Hunted”, two teams attack each other using supernatural abilities and obtaining packages hidden or spawned around the map, this is very fun for RPG and fast-paced strategy players.

Free For All/FFA - TDM in a different form, this is you vs everyone else in a close quarters deathmatch.

Domination - The gamemode everyone loves, the gamemode where you capture flags and gain points against the other team.

All I’m asking for is your gamemode idea with your name, and a paragraph or two about it.

Death Race - A Race to the finish line with absolutely NO rules. One player gets behind the wheel and the other behind a mounted gun somewhere on the vehicle. If your vehicle takes too much damage then you’re knocked out of the race.

Hey Intense, thanks for your idea, I seems like a very fast-paced and unpredictable gamemode that I could definitely use,

TTT - Gmod’s Trouble in terrorist town or something. One team, randomly split between innocents and terrorists, making two “hidden” teams. Innocents do not know who the terrorists are. Whichever team eliminates the other one wins. Works with zombies too, pretty common.

Payload/Baloon - Multiple similar TF2 mods/modes exist. Two teams, each team has a vehicle. Stand on or near the vehicle to make it move, prevent the other team from standing on theirs and reach the goal first.

Timetravel thingy - Just a random idea I’ve been thinking about. The player runs through COD like linear levels stuffed with far too many enemies. The game records player actions. When the player dies, he respawns at the beginning, along with an AI friend that repeats everything the player did in the previous run. When a recorded AI is saved from death, it switches to an automated AI. In my imagination, you would end up with an army or "you"s fighting on your side and looking like the replays in Super Meat Boy. Not sure how well it would actually work.

TTT from GMod could be reimplemented into an fps, really good idea Divinux, I also like your “Timetravel Thingy” Gamemode, seems like a practice mode for multiplayer combat.
The only thing bad about the Timetravel Thingy is I would be worried about the frames per second and how slow the game may become, this could be half solved by not putting too much code onto the AI’s.

CTF was one of my thoughts, but then I thought of altering it slightly to be something like, Capture The Package!

Well there are lots of modes right now in ma head :smile: you can make dino mode with a T rex and a few smaller dinos running around…Or you can make a ghost mode where other team (ghost team) is invisible…or am…just something with chasing like … instead of zombies you can put … example posionous spiders wanting to posion you just make something with chasing thats the most interesting part of any FPS i have played because of adrenalin :smile:

These are really good ideas for like alternatives to Treyarch’s “Zombies” or Infinity Ward’s “Extinction”, invisible ghost team could be part of multiplayer while poisinous creatures could be a completely new feature.

Duck Match: Standard death match except the arena is filled with innocent ducks that fly and waddle around randomly. If any player accidentally shoots or injures a duck in any way, that player immediately explodes and is penalized one kill. The tag line is: “Don’t f*** with the duck.”

Hide and seek.

One game type I LOVED was stockpile from Halo Reach. If you could implement a game type like that into an fps, that would be so cool. I remember playing stockpile for hours before they bundled it into the crap multi-game playlist. :confused: lol.

Basically stockpile’s goal was: each team had a small circular space where flags could go in. You needed to fight for the 3-5 flags on the map and put them into your teams ‘flag circle’. The first team to get to 10 won.

Halo is a FPS to look up to, great storyline with real meaning, well, it’s better than this COD and Battlefield storyline junk.

Infiltration -
One small team tries to infiltrate a building and complete different objectives while the bigger team defends. The smaller team has only one respawn but they are given super stealthy skills such as cloak, teleport, etc. The bigger team has infinite respawns but they only respawn every 10 seconds or so.

I like the idea of cloaks, teleporting etc.
But I’m not sure about the 10 seconds respawn time, they used to drive me insane on COD!

INFECTED:Instead of dying like in most games that have zombie ie: Black ops. After you die you could have an afterlife of being the zombie. Taking control of its body and finding some human brain to chew on.

Seems good, very similar to COD Ghosts’s “Infected”.

I think an important question to ask is what kind of modern FPS are you planning to make? More fast paced and short like call of duty or battlefield, or longer, more skill based, drawn out military simulators like Arma, a first person style Socom, etc? This way, we know what we could say and what not. I am asking because I have an idea or two for some game types, but they may work much better in an environment like Arma, not cod.

A capture the flag derivative, where every minute you are allowed to move X (let’s say 150 meters) distance. Shooting guns (longer range, more cost) uses distance as well. Maybe a really weak inaccurate pistol for no cost (so you can shoot it when you can’t move anymore.

You could buy upgrades and such (more faster, longer distance, less cost of using guns, ectect) that could tailor to playstyles better. And it would be pretty easy to prototype.
