Funny vegetation

Hi

Please have a look on this demo:

http://www.visualizer.ch/vrdemo.php?clip=name_3

By moving through the water and coming closer to the bush (Bush 4), this is jumping to a smaler size. The billboard value is set to 5 (smalest value) and 2000 maximum value).

Also you can see trees and grass jumping away near the border of the camera view.

Any idea, how to solve it.

Are they painted on as trees or as detail meshes?

The plants in the water was paintet in the tree painter, the grass around the pond with the detail painter.

Ok, well that’s the problem… paint the detail meshes with the Detail Brush.

OK, fine. Thanks for your hint. Well bushes and grass paintet in the detail painter is braking down the performance here. (My terrain has 1000x1000x600 meters)

Try this: Make a new terrain and set the resolution instead of 2000x2000x600 meters to only 50x50 meters. Paint some grass on it within the detail painter and very quickly you get a performance of under 10fps!

Not so, if you paint the same busher within the tree painter…?!

We JUST had this discussion like 2 days ago man

You need to set the Detail Resolution to a much lower number. I just did a test and got 300 FPS on a 50x50 meter Terrain absolutely covered with grass.

Hello and thanks for your support this week.

I now have made a complet new terrain with the settings above (from your screenshot)

Please have a look, how the grass is still swifting away near the lower border of the camera view.

Example here: visualizer.ch is available for purchase - Sedo.com

The grass and the plants in the water (Bush4) was painted within the detail painter.

Why is the grass swifting away?
And why is the Bush4 not bending in the wind like the grass?

Hi >visualizer,

i´ve visit your website and the unity-content “human moves 1” and i want to ask you if you could explain me, how you code your “camera-smoothing/tweening” when it slow downs the camera speed.

Would be great to know. Thanks for sharing your experience… yosh

<<Ok, well that’s the problem… paint the detail meshes with the Detail Brush.>>

I thought the detail painter and detail brush are the same thing?

Hello

I attached here a unity package, with a scene, where you can see how this is done. Feel free to optimice it.

There is an issue, if you want replace the camera rig in an other orientation…
