We would like to inform our community about the deprecation of Unity’s support for HoloLens 2.
- Starting on July 7th 2025, Unity support for HoloLens 2 is deprecated, and no longer recommended for production.
- While HoloLens 2 functionality will remain available across Unity 2022 LTS and Unity 6 (up to Unity 6.3), we discourage its use for new projects, and no new features or updates will be provided.
What does this mean for you?
Deprecation means that while HoloLens 2 functionality will remain available in the listed editors, we discourage its use for future projects as Microsoft’s development focus shifts away from the HoloLens platform. If you’re looking to migrate your project to another platform, we encourage you to explore Unity’s OpenXR plugin, which supports a wide range of OpenXR runtimes. Learn more about how Unity can help you build cross-platform XR experiences in our documentation here.
For further details or any questions, feel free to engage with us here. Thank you for being part of the Unity community.
