HQ Medieval weapons models pack

Hi there !

I’m Ben, senior 3D artist working as a freelancer. In order to test the incomes that may come from the asset store I’m currently working on my very first Asset Store package.

Since there is few quality stuff in this niche I decided to make a high quality PBR medieval weapons pack.
I plan to make different swords, axes, shields,…

Wip image of the 4 first items of the package I made to validate the visual style and workflow:

If you have feedback, hints or if you want me to add some specific items to the package do not hesitate to give me references !

I’ll keep this thread updated while I make new stuff, see you soon !

Those look wonderful. Im definitely interested.

Looking good!

Long swords updated + 3 new daggers !

From you experience, what do you think it would work best to sell assets packages:

1- One big pack with a lot of assets, sold something around 25 2- or multiple small packages (axes, swords, etc...) each sold around 8-10 ?

I would do both. A single big pack with all weapons at a bulk discount and individual packs by category (swords, hammers, polearms, etc.)

25 would be the upper limit I would pay for a large weapons pack.

Thx for your reply Rajmahal, much appreciated ! I’ll commit those swords into a first small package then ! It’ll help me getting used to the submission process.

What kind of medieval weaponery would you like to see after this one ?

These look fantastic, I would absolutely buy them  Polearms/Halberds, Maces, Lances, Axes, Shields etc would all be amazing

I would like to see swords, daggers, polearms, hammers, maces, crossbows, bows. Basically the gambit of medieval weapons.

I will likely wait for the complete package asset unless you allow for an upgrade pricing, in which case I’ll pick up the swords / dagger pack as soon as it’s available.

Yeah small packs for introduction and then also bundles for whole collection would work. I would like to see more commoner swords with simpler design which would fit for bandits and low tier enemies etc  and for other weaponry, axes / spears / clubs would be nice

Yes, I forgot about axes. I would prefer to see more assets of your higher quality because there are quite a lot of low quality medieval weapons on the asset store. Not many that show expensive and finely crafted but still realistic weapons like yours.

Shields would also very helpful.

Thx for your opinion and tips guys you’re really helping !

I’m currently going through the submission process for this first “swords and daggers” package. Perhaps after making other packs I’ll add stuff in this one, while updating the price, we’ll see how things going !

And I can’t agree more with you on the overall quality of the asset store items, too bad they don’t filter better the submissions… When reading the official documents you can think they care about quality but in the real world the asset store is crowded with so much ugly assets… It’s a pity that good stuff is hidden behind all this crap.

These all look fantastic! I would love to see a whole assortment of realistically-styled medieval weapons.

A package where you could custom-build your own swords from a collection of blades, pommels, hilt guards, etc would also be really nice.

Broken/rusted/dirty variants would be cool too.

Also, please ensure that they are all scaled correctly. Seems like a simple thing, but a lot of 3D models on the Asset Store are not.

@TeagansDad : Thx for your kind words. I really can make a custom-build package, but we’ll loose the ambient occlusion and dirt added between each parts. Variants could be done quickly also. Don’t worry the scale is right

Awesome work Ben! I would also wait for the big pack and am not in a hurry as of yet. Have a project I’m planning to start on towards the end of Q1 next year. Do you have an estimate when it might get released?

The first pack of long swords and daggers is already commit to the Unity asset store, but still in “Pending review” for the last 3 days. Seems like the review guys are quite busy :frowning:

Wow, at last, after a full month of review my asset package is no more in “Pending review” state, it’s LIIIIVE !
