Guys how are you doing?
Yesterday I realized I was spending too much time on thinking about all the very small details on my large game which is http://www.superstickgame.com, this game in which I’ve been working for the past year or so has been extremely fun, however there is so much still to be done than many times I loose my motivation to keep working on it. What I decided to do to change my motivation as a game developer is to trick my brain into going through the process of releasing a game from start to finish in 2 weeks. This game which I’m not starting 100% from scratch but using some of my existing code is basically I prototype I put together before changing the design and mechanics of SuperStickGame.
The new mini game is called StickmanWorld and my plan is as follows:
- Day 1-5 working on 20 levels. I will have at least 4 levels a day in which I should’ve my 20 level goal by day 5.
- Day 6-7 developing touch controls as the game will only be released for iPAD and iPhone devices.
- Last 7 days mainly for game testing and building to iOS.
So far is been 1 day and I’ve around 5 levels, this game is simple so please don’t judge me
but it has some cool mechanics such as jumping through layers / activating and deactivating colliders depending on the layer the player is on, anti-gravity, pushing boxes, 2D water effects, intro camera effects, image effects, menu system, etc.
Photos from Day 1 so far, I will be posting every single detail to this post so be sure to come back to it so you can see progress and my experience
which I hope is helpful to everyone feeling the same way I feel.
Screenshots so far:
Level 1 - 5
Also some videos will be posted here frequently throughout the entire process.
Thank you guys and wish me luck.
