my new game

Hi. My name is Karan Singh. I am making a 2D side scrolling platformer. And hope to release it soon on the Android devices and the IOS too (if I can afford a mac :frowning: )

I would like to show my game to you. You can leave me your e mail Ids in the comments section and I will mail you an apk that runs on android devices, so that you guys can help me make it better

thanks

I dont have a android device so i couldn’t test it for, but i do have a question, is the level design ment to be like that with the platforms just suspended in mid air? seems a little odd to me haha.

I am not able to test it also due to not having a device. But congratulations on being close to release.

Why do you have the move left button above the move right button? It seems unnatural to me that in order to go to the left I would move my thumb diagonally instead of just straight to the left.

Bridin… maybe he didn’t intend it, or maybe I’m totally wrong in saying this, but…

Logically/visually, having it at the same level would make sense/appeal more I guess. But anatomically - not saying it’s at all difficult to move your thumb straight left - but with how you hold a phone or small tablet, it is sorta more natural I guess to just pivot your thumb diagonally instead of bend it to move it horizontally. Of course, I just woke up and am probably thinking about this way too much.

tobi I’ll PM you my email and I can help test it out for you.

You could be totally right. The more I am thinking about it the more a diagonal motion would make sense. Learned something new today

Thank you so much for showing interest PixelHeadHD  … you have got yourself a very nice username. And you are right, personally I also feel that these suspended platforms look a little odd, but most of these platforms are moving (horizontally, vertically and diagonally). So when the moving platforms are around, I think it looks fine but otherwise a little odd. Its confusing :frowning: … hehe

JumpDog and Bridin, thankyou so much guys, I was really worried about the position of the buttons. But now I am a little relieved, thanks to you guys
JumpDog I am waiting for your PM

Haha thanks for the compliment, also it makes sense now, maybe you can put up a small length video (1 minute) of your game just to show how fluid the mechanics are?

They way i create 2d games is to make everything seem like it moves due to a function. U have girders as floating platforms, make some background image of whats holding them up. If it is moving back and forth there are a number of things u cn use like magic, jets, mechanical arms and so on.

I also dont like floating and moving things if they arent attached to something, it looks, like mentioned, odd.

I’d also like to test the game, always on the lookout for potential 2d creators for the future:)

sure pixelheadHD… I would love to show you the video, I will upload it tomorrow

Thanks a lot for showing interest, and you are absolutely right. Floating things that are not attached to something dont make much sense and dont look good AT ALL. I am definitely gonna try to make something that seems to hold these platforms, I think mechanical arms or chains maybe. Thanks a lot for the idea, I dont know why it never hit me. Maybe because its my first game and I am way too much excited about it.

Also I would like to mention that your game “Flourish” looks toooo awesome. The art is beautiful and reminds me of Rayman. Give me your email Id. I will mail you the apk that you can test on your android device

Guys, What should I name this game? I cant think of any good name :frowning:
