I am currently working on a game. I need some ideas badly for my game. My main aim is to make it interesting and interactive. I am not a gamer so i have limited ideas for the game.
Basically i am working on an educational game (chinese) that teaches kids from 9 to12 years old. For example A + B = AB.
Creating a 2D game with different themes? For example, there is three themes. Click and match; hit the balloon and memory game. Sound boring?? This is all i could think of.
I would appreciate that you guys could give me some ideas how to improve my games…
P.S. I don’t know what more can i say,anything just ask me
You could have a word jumble game, where you’re given a bunch of letters and you have to make as many words as you can with them, the bigger the word the bigger the score.
@hippocode: Yes. I am totally agree with you hippocoder, but nowsdays kids are getting more creative and have great exposure to all sort of games, so if the game are not fun, they won’t want to continue playing with it and this is why i am very worried.
HELLO… Thank you. The ninjia look cool. But i am doing it in chinese so it is quite hard to do “typing ninjia”, but i like the game. Pretty cool and exciting
But, yeah, i am actually interested in the fact aw well. Are you a teacher? A teacher willing to program a game for me in his free time would have been an instant favourite.
I’d like you to elaborate on what you want to teach and give an example of what you mean by a+b=ab
Because i first thought math as well and wanted to suggest something with the euclidian room.
Allright then, back to letters, and even worse chinese letters o.O Forgive me if i’m wrong, but is it true that chinese “letters/words” consist of several, smaller but still meaningful words? As shown in the picture with pseudo letters?
If so, you could give the children one part of the world and let them look for a fitting second part. Maybe there are even more possibilities to create more words even if you only have one starting wordpart, so you could give more points for harder words.
Edit: Whoops just noticed its “missy” so probably a “she”
I would like to teach the kid how to form words. You are right. Currently, those chinese word i am dealing have two parts : Radical001 and Radical01… We have to check whether when we form Radical001 and Radical01 = correct/valid word. It is quite the same as playing the forming of english word.
For example,
W + O + R + D = WORD or
Tea + cher = Teacher (syllables without own meaning) or
Hot + Dog = Hotdog (Words on their own and word together)
Just that in chinese, it is more complicated. Like Radical001 can be combine with Radical02 to form a valid word. But due to the complexity and my poor programming skill i make it that only Radical001 combine with Radical01; Radical002 combine with Radical02…
For level1 to probably level4, it is just simple click and match. To make it interesting, i am intending to have enemy coming down randomly to attack the main character. To destroy enemies, player can click on the enemies a few times to kill it or when they form valid word, the cannon will shoot at the enemies. Still haven’t not gone that far.
Next level5 probably to level10 etc, i will have a memory game. Like the player have to memorise where is the position of the radical00 and radical0 to form correct word.
Lastly, i will have the cannon to shoot on the balloon to form correct word.
P.S. Sorry my english are not really good. Hope it is clear enough
